05 Aug St Hilda’s Preview – ‘Here the Music’
Here is a preview of the new piece I wrote for St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls – for the opening of their new performing arts hall on September 11.
Full ensemble will include a choir of 300+ girls, brass, rhythm section, percussion and strings. I’ve never written for this type of ensemble before, so looking forward to hearing it live! Some of the words (which you can’t hear in this demo) are quite poetic too, written by Rachel Young:
Here the music is gentle to touch
Transparent as tears on cheeks
Sliding, slowly, expectant
Evaporation in the blinding bright
With music drifting on the breeze
Waiting for a gentle heart to hear.
With a bit of luck I’ll be able to post some photos and video of the dress rehearsals, should be fun!
